Kimberly-Clark has announced the launch of Kimguard Smart-Fold Sterilization Wrap, an new sterilization packaging designed to provide the durability for demanding applications.
The wrap was developed in collaboration with sterilization professionals from across the world to meet the needs of customers for added protection for sterilized surgical instruments.
Kimberly-Clark Health Care sales and marketing vice president John Amat said the company by introducing Smart-Fold was taking the lead of bringing product innovation to the healthcare market.
"As industry leaders in sterilization packaging, we worked with over 2,000 customers around the world to develop Smart-Fold, and we are thrilled to introduce this new wrap that is dramatically stronger-by design," Amat said.
Said to be 64% more durable than the leading sterilization wrap, Smart-Fold Features triple-layer reinforcement which will protect the heaviest procedure trays and loaner sets from tears and cuts that can occur during handling, said the company.
Its patented design is engineered to fit tough procedure trays and reduce waste.
The strips allow for 59% quicker wrapping, which will reduce physical strain on staff and also training time.
It also includes the Quick Check feature, combining a blue wrap layer with a white inner layer in order that users can quickly identify sterility breach.
Kimguard Smart-Fold Sterilization Wrap will be available in late 2012 in the heaviest grade, KC650.
